Privacy Policy — StoryMail

1. What We Collect

When you use StoryMail, we collect:

Account information: Your name, email address, and industry, provided during book creation.
Story content: Inputs you provide (prospect name, challenge, industry) and the generated story text.
Photos: Images you upload are stored in our cloud storage to embed in your PDF and story.
Payment information: Processed directly by Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
QR scan data: When a recipient scans a QR code, we log the tracking ID, timestamp, IP address, and browser user agent.
Usage data: Standard server logs including pages visited and feature interactions.

2. How We Use Your Information

Generate and deliver your personalized story PDF.
Send you a notification email when your QR code is scanned.
Provide the public story reader at getstorymail.com/story/[id].
Process your payment and send your receipt via Stripe.
Fulfill and ship printed book orders via our print partners.
Respond to support requests.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your story content to train AI models.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate StoryMail:

Supabase — database and file storage (story text, uploaded photos)
Stripe — payment processing
Resend — transactional email delivery (PDF delivery, QR scan notifications)
OpenAI / Anthropic — AI story and image generation
Third-party print fulfillment partners — printing and shipping physical books (your name, delivery address, and book content are shared as required to fulfill your order)
Vercel — website hosting

4. QR Scan Tracking Disclosure

Books generated through StoryMail contain a QR code that, when scanned, logs the event and notifies the book's creator. If you are a recipient of a StoryMail book, scanning the QR code constitutes consent to this logging. The creator of the book is responsible for informing you of this tracking where required by local law.

5. Data Retention

Story content and associated data are retained indefinitely to support the public story reader and QR tracking features. Uploaded photos are retained for 90 days after your last activity. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.

6. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing support@getstorymail.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Cookies

We use browser localStorage (not cookies) to preserve your work-in-progress between sessions. No tracking cookies or third-party advertising pixels are used.

8. Children's Privacy

StoryMail is intended for business use by adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. The effective date above will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
